First week of Daycare

Hello Ewan,

This week is, for all intent and purposes, your first week of child-care. To gradually ease you in, we dropped you off for an hour last week. For two days this week, you are there up to lunch time. Today, you will spend most of the day there (including your nap). So far, you have done quite well. Did you cry? Sure. But the teachers told us it is normal. And you are telling us that you like spending time there with Miss Delia and Miss Mimi (Faumica). You also enjoy time with the older kids. Here's a picture of your cubby hole.

For mom and I, we don't like to see you uncomfortable. Mom even shed a few tears yesterday as she was leaving. And for a moment, it almost seems cruel to leave you with strangers for most of the day. But we truly believe this is the right thing to do. This allows you to learn. Learn how to play with other kids. Learn to taste different foods. Learn to live in a different environment outside of our home. We are quite sure that in just a few short weeks, you will love going to see your friends and care-takers.

We cannot say enough good things about this child-care facility. To start, people who runs the place are competent and caring. They are in control of themselves and of the children. The place is well maintained, clean and serve yummy and healthy (organic) food. Lastly, it is close to home. We feel safe to place you in their care.

This week, we saw some new and different develop from you. You learn to shake your head when we ask you to kiss mama or dada. I think it is a new skill you learn and you are practicing it. You used to be so inclined to give us a kiss at any hour of the day. We are glad that you are showing signs of having your own thoughts and independence. Fantastic!
